In the context of the 20th anniversary of the Curatorial Programme, De Appel has been conducting a broad research programme between 2013 and 2016 into the history and future of curatorial education, led by Guus van Engelshoven and supported by the Ammodo Foundation. Amongst others, this research programme resulted in the establishment of a curatorial fellowship, an expansion of the tutorial team, and the development of new collaborations with national and international partner institutes.

Ammodo, founded in 2011, is a non-profit organisation that initiates and supports projects aiding in the development of the arts and sciences. Ammodo primarily concentrates on visual art, the performing arts and fundamental scientific research.

The primary goal of the activities in which Ammodo is involved, within visual art and the performing arts, is to contribute to the initiation, presentation and development of art that is experimental and critical in nature. To realise this goal, Ammodo collaborates with multiple institutions such as the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans van Beuningen, Van Abbemuseum, Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten, If I Can’t Dance I Don’t Want To Be Part of Your Revolution, EYE, P/////AKT, Holland Festival, the National Opera and Ballet, Nederlands Dans Theater en Toneelgroep Amsterdam.

“Ammodo supports the curatorial programme at de Appel arts centre because it is an important contribution to the development of the careers of young curators. The reassessment of the programme is of great importance to secure and strengthen the international appeal of the program.”
