In dialogue with de Appel timeline: 40+ years of risks a project establishing a timeline of performances at de Appel, the thematic focus of the next Open Avond on November 23 is the notion of a timeline. A timeline constitutes the linear representation of a specific period or topic. We can approach a timeline in different ways, such as: a materialization of time, a collection of online posts on a social media account, a historical or biographical narrative, or through flaws of time. This Open Avond aims to create a dialogue between the proposals and material from the archive, starting from reflections about the concept of a timeline. Applications consisting of already existing, extemporary, or improvised works are welcome.
Performances will also be selected on the basis of how well they combine their length, variety and coherence, with each other To participate, or ask any question, please send your proposal by Monday 14th of November at midnight to openavonds@gmail.com, with your CV and portfolio or links to online works (if you have them).
The proposal should contain a clear description of how the work will be performed, and not exceed 300 words. Any format is welcome, but it should consider the limited technical equipment available, which includes: a beamer, microphones, a sound system managed by an audio technician and normal exhibition lights.
The performance should not exceed 20 minutes and happen inside a space of about 10sqm. A floor plan of the space is available online. The performer is allowed to bring props, devices and extra helpers or performers, but the setting up of the space should not be too long or laborious.
A small fee is available for each participant.
Looking forward to hearing from you!
